What's your hydration IQ?
Living a healthy lifestyle is important—but you can eat right, exercise, and sleep a solid eight-a-night, and still be missing an important piece of the health puzzle. Are you hydrating properly? 1. You’re heading to the gym for a quick workout after work. You:

  • a. Drink some water when I feel thirsty/dehydrated during my workout.
  • b. Grab a bottle of water to drink at your desk an hour before you leave, and refill it to take to the gym with you. You want to hydrate before AND during your workout. (And you have a bottle handy for afterward, too!)
  • c. Water? Don’t really think about it—and the number on the scale looks better when you’re a liiiittle dehydrated.

2. What’s the first thing you drink on a weekday morning?

  • a. Does brushing your teeth count as “drinking?”
  • b. Water, always—you keep a full glass on your nightstand for exactly that reason.
  • c. Juice, tea, milk or coffee.

3. You’re not feeling particularly thirsty today. You:

  • a. Eat some tomatoes, fruit, soup—any juicy food with a lot of water in it.
  • b. Drink 8 glasses of water anyway! There are multiple reasons your body might not register thirst at any given time but it’s important.
  • c. Drink with my meals, but don’t worry about it otherwise.

4. Do you drink more water in the summer?

  • a. If by more, you mean “any,” then sure.
  • b. Of course—you sweat more in the summer, so the need to rehydrate is greater.
  • c. You drink as much as you need to, summer AND winter.

5. Your water bottle is:

  • a. Um, you think there might be a bottle in the back of the cabinet or the fridge somewhere… maybe behind the eggs?
  • b. Why would anyone have a water bottle?
  • c. Adorable, reusable, and monogrammed.
